CivTech Remote Assessment
A partnership between CTC and South of Scotland Enterprise and CENSIS aims to discover how technology can help trainers assess the skills and practice competence of learners, using remote and online services.
Usually CTC would deliver face to face training usually in a formal classroom sessions with some courses consisting of Theory and Practice elements for example. First Aid, and Handling and Vital Signs.
Recent restrictions have made us look at online training and we have converted a number of our existing courses to this platform, with the realisation that some online training has benefits to learners in the long term even without COVID restrictions. Its accessible at any time, cuts down travel time in remote and rural areas like Dumfries & Galloway and is available to a wider audience . HOWEVER we face the challenge of the practical aspects of some courses the example we are using for our challenge is Vital signs , how do we teach someone to take a blood pressure manually and assess their competence at this without the trainer .
The Challenge has been put out to tender through the Scottish Government’s CivTech programme, which exists to invite entrepreneurs and start-ups to help solve challenges faced by public sector organisations.
Anyone with an idea to solve the Challenge can make applications now online at Public Contracts Scotland. Applications are open until midday, Friday 9 July 2021.
The successful candidates will then then placed into a tech accelerator programme to explore promising ideas that will be piloted by CTC. Successful trials could inform wider adoption of the technology across Scotland. The resulting products and services will be revealed in March 2022.
