First Aid for Mental Health

This training comprises of understanding Mental Health, Mental Health Crisis Intervention, supportive listening and communication, providing initial help, self-care and well-being and empowers individuals to respond actively to mental health crises.

Course Format

This comprehensive full-day course provides learners with First Aid For Mental Health training (including SCQF Level 5 Award). Our expert coaches help you develop the skills to identify and manage when team members are struggling and need professional support. Building upon the SCQF Level 4, learners gain a deeper understanding of the effects of drugs and alcohol on mental wellbeing. Our easy-to-follow First Aid For Mental Health Action Plan provides step by step guidance to create a supportive workplace culture that promotes mental wellbeing.

Workload & Length

The First Aid for Mental Health course is delivered as a full-day, 7-hour face-to-face session, designed to fit into professional schedules while providing in-depth, practical learning. The course blends interactive discussions, scenario-based activities, and guided exercises to help participants build confidence in supporting mental wellbeing. Learners will develop skills to recognise early signs of mental health issues and understand how to respond effectively in the workplace.

Assessment Methods & Certification

Participants will undergo continuous assessment through practical exercises and scenario-based discussions. On successful completion, they will receive a NUCO certificate, valid for 3 years. The course is delivered by one of our experienced NUCO-certified instructors, ensuring high-quality, industry-standard training.
