How the course runs
- Introduction to health & safety
The session opens with the foundations, what health and safety means in practice, why it matters, and how legislation shapes responsibilities for employers and employees alike. - Hazards, risks & responsibilities
Participants explore common workplace hazards, accidents vs incidents, slips, trips, falls, and examine the responsibilities of both employers and employees in managing them. - COSHH, symbols & hygiene
A practical look at the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health, how to interpret safety symbols correctly, and why handwashing is a foundational health and safety practice. - Case studies & group discussions
Real-world scenarios and group discussion help participants apply their knowledge to their own workplace context, embedding learning through active engagement. - Assessment & certification
Continuous assessment runs throughout the session via practical demonstrations and knowledge-based evaluations. Successful participants receive their certificate on completion.
What you'll learn

Before you arrive
Wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear, you'll be taking part in practical exercises throughout the day.
Certificate
CTC Certified for 3 years
Assessed through practical demonstrations and knowledge checks throughout the course. Successful completion earns a certificate valid for 3 years, and the training can be recorded as part of your SSSC Continuous Professional Learning (CPL). Renew through further training when your certificate expires.
