Session Goal
This course gives unpaid carers the knowledge and hands-on skills to assist safely with moving and positioning at home. You'll learn the manual handling principles and equipment techniques that reduce injury risk for you and the person you care for, and leave with practical strategies you can apply straight away with confidence.
What The Course Covers
Safe techniques for moving, repositioning and transferring
Manual handling principles to reduce injury risk for carers and those they support
Safe use of hoists,slings and other moving & handling equipment
Maintaining comfort and dignity for the person being moved
Recognising and managing potential hazards during transfer
Promoting independence and choice during movement and transfers
Posture and positioning strategies to prevent pressure injuries
Building confidence in providing practical moving support at home
Session Format
A hands-on, practical workshop, not a lecture. You'll work with real equipment, practice techniques with guidance, and have time to ask questions specific to your caring situation.
