How the course runs

1.

Online theory module
A short 10–20 minute module to complete before attending, covering the basics ahead of the practical day.

2.

Classroom teaching
Take part in a 7-hour face-to-face session with theory and practical exercises.

3.

Learn and practise key skills
Develop safe moving and handling techniques, equipment use, risk assessment, and communication skills.

4.

Complete the assessment and receive certification
Pass the practical and knowledge assessments to earn a certificate valid for 3 years.

Before you arrive


Wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear, you'll be taking part in practical exercises throughout the day.

Certificate


CTC Certified for 3 years
Assessed through practical demonstrations and knowledge checks throughout the course. Successful completion earns a certificate valid for 3 years, and the training can be recorded as part of your SSSC Continuous Professional Learning (CPL). Renew through further training when your certificate expires.

Where it takes place

Training can be delivered at our Dumfries training facility or onsite at your organisation’s premises, with sessions available for up to 8 delegates.
