SVQ 3 and 4 in Management

Course Overview:

Level 3 and 4 Management

The Scottish Vocational Qualification SVQ 3 in Management at SCQF level 7 and the SVQ4 in Management at SCQF level 8 are a nationally recognised awards accredited by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) in partnership with MSC and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

Level 3

This award is aimed at junior managers/supervisors/first line managers likely to be managing a small unit or a senior member. To achieve the SVQ in Management level 3 candidates must achieve 7 Units in total, 4 mandatory and 3 optional Units. The SVQ Management Level 3 will give you confidence and strategies to explore your role which will enable you to progress in your career path as a manager.

Assessment is through performance in the workplace. Simulation is now allowed. Evidence may be classified into three categories: work produced by the candidate as part of his/her job as a manager: work produced by others relating to the work that the candidate does as a manager; and statements produced by others about what the candidate has done. This evidence may be gathered by observed performance, products of work, witness testimony and personal statement, and presented as a portfolio.

Level 4

This award is aimed at middle managers with a wide remit and span of control.  To achieve the SVQ in Management Level 4, candidates must achieve 8 units in total, 5 mandatory and 3 optional Units. The SVQ Management Level 4 will enable you to progress in your career path as a successful manager.

Assessment is through performance in the workplace. Simulation is now allowed. Evidence may be classified into three categories: work produced by the candidate as part of his/her job as a manager: work produced by others relating to the work that the candidate does as a manager; and statements produced by others about what the candidate has done. This evidence may be gathered by observed performance, products of work, witness testimony and personal statement, and presented as a portfolio.
